Minner og forventning

Dette er et kart over minner og forventninger som har bygget seg opp etter å ha jobbet med temaet bolig og identitet i Grønland.

no.1 As a general rule
there are no absolute borders between homes and houses in Greenland. Anyone can pass everywhere.
no. 2 It seemes that wherever possible, in houses that have lived long, there have been alterations made so that homes fits to new requirements. Here is a sketch of Sørens home which has gotten a new living room in the previous loft, and a triangular annex.
no. 3 In the streets it might be hard for a stranger to decide which house has a private function and which one has a public interest. The signs are subtle, and the city might seem hard to get to know for a stranger.
no. 4 There are challenges connected to access in Maniitsoq. The rugged place lives up to it’s name, but there’s got to be a way around it.
no. 5 The terrain is resistant to alterations, a type of building that makes the least out of it’s meeting with the ground could free resources for other things.
no. 6 Due to the lack of property in the legal sense of it, there are other tricks to maintain ownership. Items “left” or placed in a reasonable distance from the house lets people know.
no. 7 This drawing is from the previous attict in Heidi’s house. Her family love to expand the house, and it results in an abundance of structural elemets and play with light and shadow. (Budding.)
no. 8 I remeber the bathroom because it had such warm colours, and the natural stones that was casted into the floor signalized a wish for some sort of closeness to the instinctive parts of life.
no. 9 Greenlanders are particulary proud to welcome guests to a meal of self catched food. If you can see the spot where you catched the food form the kitchen, it cant’y get any better.
no. 10 Greenlanders love beeing in company. And then there will be laughter. Homes must make room for this. Kaffemik.
no. 11 Modern apartments in Greenland look like any other modern apartment in the world.
no. 12 View is central in the conception of a good home. But the telly is a view too. Greenlanders watch TV a lot.
no. 13 Some greenlanders live rough lives, and it is good to be able to take a nap whenever. Strangers in the room is no hinder.
no. 14 A place to study and learn is a must in a country going up and forward.
no. 15 Living tight must represent other spatial qualities than long corridors.
